Jeb Bush to speak at Siouxland Chamber this fall

The announcement was made in Sioux City, Iowa, this afternoon and, according to this account in The Sioux City Journal, there were “a few gasps and whispers” when it was revealed Jeb Bush would be the speaker at a Siouxland Chamber of Commerce banquet in October.

I had my most memorable interview with Jeb Bush on November 7, 2000. He called the Radio Iowa newsroom, offering to do an interview when there was about an hour left ’til the polls closed in Iowa at 9 p.m. central. His task: to urge Republican voters in Iowa to make a dash to the polls if they hadn’t already voted.  As you may recall, Al Gore won Iowa by just 2000 votes in that Bush v Gore year.  I’ve always wanted to ask Jeb Bush if his time might have been better spent making calls into Florida’s western panhandle that evening. Maybe I’ll get that opportunity this fall.
