Tom Miller named one of co-chairs of Obama/Biden 2012

Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller and State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald were in Ames, Iowa, on February 11, 2007 for then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama’s first campaign rally in Iowa.  Both endorsed Obama that day, a remarkable move since former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack — a fellow Democrat with whom they had served in state government — was still running for president at the time.

The Obama 2012 campaign has announced Miller will be a national co-chair for the president’s reelection effort.  Iowa Democratic Party chair Sue Dvorsky issued a written statement:

“Tom Miller has been an outstanding voice for Democrats across Iowa and we could not be more proud to see him as a national co-chair for President Obama’s reelection campaign. Coming from an important battleground state that launched President Obama on his way to the White House in 2008, Tom Miller knows better than anyone how important this election is and what needs to be done in order to win in November.”
