Sioux City Debate Part III: “zany” fools and knaves?

The third segment of tonight’s GOP debate showcased the chasm between Ron Paul and the other candidates when it comes to foreign policy, specifically policy toward Iran.

Paul called Iraq a “useless war” and of Iran he said:  “We don’t need another war.”

Bachmann responded: “I think I have never heard a more dangerous answer…than the one I just heard from Ron Paul.”  She warned against being “fools and knaves” in regards to Iran’s intentions in the region and beyond.

Paul said he doesn’t want Iran to have a nuclear weapon, “but to declare war on 1.2 billion Muslims…this is dangerous talk…Why do we have to bomb so many countries?…This wild goal to have another war in the name of defense…the danger is really us over-reacting.”

Gingrich, a little later in an answer to a question on another topic: “I sometimes get accused of using language that’s too strong, so I’ve been standing here editing and I’m very concerned about not appearing zany.” Zany is a reference to quotes in this New York Times story.
