State Representative Linda Upmeyer of Garner, the House Majority Leader, has just issued a statement about her future with the Gingrich campaign. (There’s been a mass exodus from Camp Gingrich today.)
I saw Upmeyer in a hallway behind the Iowa House of Representatives this week, having a conversation with Craig Schoenfeld, a former legislative staffer who is now a lawyer/lobbyist — and who had been Gingrich’s top Iowa advisor until today. Schoenfeld quickly walked away and down a staircase after I saw the two of them and I didn’t have a chance to ask Upmeyer about the conversation. Wonder if they were talking about today’s mass resigniations…

DES MOINES) – Iowa House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer (R-Garner) who serves as the Chairwoman of Speaker Newt Gingrich’s Iowa campaign has issued the following statement:
“The recent staffing announcements that have occurred at the Gingrich campaign are disheartening. As far as my role in the campaign, I am reserving any decisions until I have a chance to visit with the Speaker about his future plans.”
