The Iowa House has passed a labor-related bill with the exclusive support of Republicans, with all the opposition coming from Democrats. The final tally was 58-38. (There are 60 Republicans in the Iowa House and 40 Democrats.) The vote was taken at about 12:28 p.m.
Representative Pat Murphy (D-Dubuque) gave a brief speech after the vote. Murphy pointed out the House switchboard was closed most of the day. Listen to this mp3 of the post-debate fracas: TheEnding (You’ll hear some shouts of “Shame on you” toward the end.)
