Iowa Republican legislative leaders spoke this morning at a fundraising breakfast. The crowd of 200 was comprised of more lobbyists than legislators. The lawmakers from the Grand Old Party were in a celebratory mood. Senate GOP Leader Paul McKinley joked that “adults” would soon be back in control of the governor’s office and House GOP Leader Linda Upmeyer talked of the “energy” among the 60 Republicans who’re serving in the Iowa House. House Speaker Kraig Paulsen, a Republican from Hiawatha, said he had posed for a photo recently and he joked the only way his wife and chief aide could get him to smile was to say the word: “60.”
Listen to all of what the trio had to say early this morning here. Paulsen talked about some gambling term — “take the over” — as he recounted his discussion with a lobbyist prior to the November election.
