Details of Branstad Inaugural festivities

Governor-elect Terry Branstad’s staff today issued the following schedule of inaugural festivities.  The inaugural ball is black tie optional, folks.  The Branstaders are also selling a plaque to raise funds for their scholarship fund.  Read all about it below.

Sticks-designed art used to raise funds for the Branstad-Reynolds scholarship fund

(URBANDALE) – The Branstad-Reynolds Inaugural Committee today announced that plaques depicting the inaugural theme are now for sale, and can be ordered at

The plaque, an image of which is attached to this release, was designed by Sticks, a Des Moines-based art, accessories and furniture company.  Proceeds from the sale of the $110 ($100 plus $10 shipping) plaques will go toward the Branstad-Reynolds Inaugural Scholarship Fund, which will award scholarships to eligible Iowa students pursuing a degree in the agricultural and medical fields, and to those who lost a parent in military service following Sept. 11, 2001.

Plaques may also be purchased at the inaugural ball on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.

Additionally, tickets for the swearing in ceremony and the inaugural ball can be requested online until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011. After that, they can be obtained at the door of each event, held at Hy-Vee Hall on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011. The cost to attend the ball is $75.

Previously requested tickets can be picked up at the Inaugural Office, located at 3590 – 109th St. in Urbandale, on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 and Thursday, January 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets will remain available at will call on Friday, January 14, 201, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
