Sue Dvorsky Re-Elected as Iowa Democratic Party Chair
State Central Committee Elects 2011-2012 Officers
DES MOINES – Meeting in Des Moines, the State Central Committee of the Iowa Democratic Party (SCC) today elected officers to serve through 2012. Members of the SCC voted to re-elect Sue Dvorsky as chair, Michael Kiernan as 1st vice chair, Chris Petersen as 2nd vice chair, Ken Sagar as treasurer, and Dori Rammelsberg-Dvorak as secretary.Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky released the following statement following her re-election:
“I am very grateful to our State Central Committee and humbled by their decision to re-elect myself and our dedicated officers through 2012. While there are many tasks in front of us, none is more important than working with our partners and Democratic leaders to protect the progress Iowa has made and continue standing up for everyday Iowans.
“Over the next two years I look forward to working with our staff, party leadership, and supporters to strengthen the organization and prepare to elect Democrats at all levels in 2011 and 2012. We will build on the lessons learned in the last election to grow the Iowa Democratic Party and advance Democratic values across the state.”
Chairwoman Dvorsky lives in Coralville with her husband, State Senator Bob Dvorsky, they have two daughters, Ann and Caroline. She retired earlier this year after teaching special education in Iowa City for 30 years.
A lifelong advocate for Democrats, Dvorsky was previously elected as chair in June to serve the remainder of Michael Kiernan’s term after he stepped down for medical reasons.
