Gov. Christie: I’m not ready for presidency (audio)

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie gave a speech in Iowa this evening and during a news conference after the speechifying, Christie was asked about his presidential ambitions.

“No chance. No way. No how. Door is closed,” Christie began, talking over a reporter who was saying:  “That’s how you feel today.  It may not be how you feel a decade from now.”

Christie continued: “I am talking about what my belief in my heart is and I’ve said this very clearly that to be president of the United States, you have to have two things at a minimum.  You have to want it more than anything else in the world and I don’t.

“Second, you have to feel like you’re absolutely ready, because if you get the chance to walk into the Oval Office and you’re not absolutely ready, you’re doing a disservice to your country, and I don’t think I’m ready, so that makes me o-2 — and that’s not real good.”
