This is Congressman Steve King’s latest Tweet:
Just gigged another mole. Tools: garden hose & gig. Water runs down hill. Moles can’t hold their breath long. Nosce hostem = habeas corpus!
A gig is a spear, usually used for fishing or catching frogs. In this case, King used it to get a mole. Nosce hostem is Latin. Tuum nosce hostem means “know thy (public) enemy.” If it’s a personal enemy, it’s tuum nosce inimicum. Habeas corpus is another Latin term, a legal one, which I think in this context means King has the body of the mole.
