Here’s the latest monthly report from the Legislative Services Agency. It shows state tax collections in two key areas haven’t fallen as far as the three-member Revenue Estimating Conference had predicted. There are just two months left in the state fiscal year which ends June 30, 2010. In the first 10 months of the year, the amount of personal income taxes paid to the State of Iowa fell three percent. The R.E.C. prediction had been a drop of 5.8 percent.
In the first 10 months of the fiscal year/through the end of April, sales tax receipts are down 2.5 percent. That compares to the official estimate of a 3.8 percent decline.
Overall state tax collections are down 4.6 percent over the last 10 months.
