SteveKingIA versus KingforCongress

Critics of Congressman Steve King (R-Kiron, Iowa) have set up a faux Steve King account on Twitter.  Bret Hayworth of The Sioux City Journal has the story, with a fun quiz, too.

Here is King’s latest tweet, posted on his SteveKingIA Twitter account on Sunday:

Made weight so sat down to Easter dinner with family. Dropped 13 lbs during Lent. Clothes fit and my soul is improved. Happy Easter!

Here’s the latest Tweet from the King critics:

put too much pepper on my eggs this morn, took a bite, sneezed, head thrust forward, stabbed myself in eye with fork.

King is hosting a campaign event on Saturday night in the Sioux City suburb of Sergeant Bluff.  We’ll see which Twitter account produces the most Tweets that night. Read details below about Saturday’s event.

Sergeant Bluff, Iowa – Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota will be the guest speaker at Congressman Steve King’s third annual Defenders of Freedom dinner on April 10 in Sergeant Bluff.

“I am honored to join Congressman King at his annual Defenders of Freedom dinner, and encourage everyone to attend and support this re-election effort. I will be attending, because I know what a high value target Steve is for Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the out of touch liberal crowd,” Bachmann remarked.

Defenders of Freedom will be held at the The Bluff’s Area Family Center, 903 Topaz Drive, Sergeant Bluff. Doors will open at 5:00 pm on April 10 with the program to being at 5:30 pm. The event includes a banquet, awards presentations, and speeches by Bachmann and King.

“Steve has been a true conservative fighter, it is important that I have allies like Steve in Congress who are not afraid to stand up for liberty, freedom and justice,” Bachmann stated. “Steve is never one to shy away from standing up for true American values.”

Both King and Bachmann have taken the lead as defenders of freedom both in Congress and on the national stage. Their stated mission is fighting government takeovers of personal freedoms. “Big Government is back, and this time, with a vengeance,” King said. “Now, more than ever, we have to defend our freedoms. This ever-growing federal government now threatens to control virtually every aspect of our lives.”
