Obama to Iowa this week

Never forget that we have it within our power to shape history in this country.  It’s not in our character to sit idly by as victims of fate or circumstance, but we’re people of action and innovation, forever pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.  Now’s the time to push those boundaries once more.  We have come so far in the debate on health care in this country, but now we must finally answer the call issued by Truman, advanced by Johnson and pushed along  by the simple power of the stories like the one told by Amy here today.  The time has come for affordable, universal health care in this country and I look forward to meet this challenge in the weeks and months to come.” — Barack Obama in Iowa City, Iowa, on May 29, 2007

Just got a confirmation from a source:  President Obama will be in Iowa City on Thursday.  Jeff Zeleny of The New York Times puts the trip in perspective.

UPDATE:  A White House official emails a statement:

“On Thursday, the President will return to Iowa City, Iowa to discuss how health insurance reform lower costs for small businesses and American families and give them more control over their health care. President Obama first announced his health care plan in Iowa City in May 2007, launching a grassroots campaign for reform that led directly to the legislation passed this week.”

  1. I would just like to make my concerns known, I am 48 yrs old and its a good thing that I can see thru all the smoke and mirrors that the magicians in Washington are showing us. Just plain folk may not be able to see thru it, but if you look really close you can see Obama and all his eloquent speeches, having the last laugh when the magic show is over!
