U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-New Hartford, Iowa) made a sort of cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. SNL’s opening bit featured SNL’s “President Obama” giving a “State of the Union” address which was unlike the real thing. The seven-minute-long comedy sketch used some crowd video from the actual event and at one point Grassley is ever-so-briefly shown full-screen, sitting in the House chamber, listening to Obama’s speech last Wednesday. A little later, you can see a shot of former SNL cast member/US Senator Al Franken, sitting in the House chamber nodding. Near the end, Franken is shown standing up, applauding.
