LATHAM RELEASES STATEMENT ON THE LIFE OF EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER
WASHINGTON, DC – Iowa Congressman Tom Latham released the following statement on Tuesday on the life of Eunice Kennedy Shriver: "Many Iowans no doubt join me in remembering and honoring the life and work of Eunice Kennedy Shriver as an advocate for the rights of the disabled. I had the privilege of meeting her and working with her organization when the Special Olympics National Games were held in Ames, Iowa, in 2006. She devoted her life to breaking down stereotypes and preconceived notions of what it means to be intellectually or physically disabled. She gave millions of disabled athletes a global stage upon which they could compete and succeed, and her legacy will live on in the achievements of those she has inspired."
