Reasoner resigns as assistant leader

State Representative Mike Reasoner (D-Creston) has resigned as an assistant leader in the Iowa House.  The Des Moines Register has obtained his resignation letter.  Reasoner is not replying to email.  The House is currently debating the bill making changes in Iowa's sex offender laws.

House Democrats elected five assistant leaders.  The four others are Representatives Polly Bukta, Ako Abdul-Samad, Elesha Gayman and John Whitaker. An assistant leader gets a bit of office space in the capitol, a better parking space just outside the capitol and a slightly enhanced salary as compared to other "rank and file" legislators

UPDATE:  Read what Reasoner himself had to say about this.
