No, I'm not talking about the District Attorney. I'm talking about the new acronym for an old state agency. Governor Chet Culver has signed a bill into law which changes the name of the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs to the Department on Aging. The department's director said after House debate of the bill (and the feared acronym D.O.A.) that the acronym D.A. would be used when referencing the agency.
"Saturday Night Live" writers included a joke about the agency's name in the March 8, 2009 show, during "Weekend Update."
