As one wag suggested, perhaps the business lobbyists spend all their time with the Democrats because Democrats currently control the legislature's debate agenda. Republicans are a distinct minority in the Iowa Senate – 32 Democrats & 18 Republicans serve in the Senate – and Democrats hold 56 of the 100 seats in the Iowa House, which means Grassley's grandson, Pat Grassley — a Republican state representative — is in the minority there as well.
