Here are the absentee ballot totals at the close of business on Saturday, November 1, 2008:

Democrats - 225,732
Republicans - 138,873

That, by the way, sets a new record — beating the 2004 total by about 20,000. There is one more day of "early" voting in Iowa, and Secretary of State Michael Mauro predicts the total number of early votes cast in Iowa may go past the half a million mark.
