The Principal Charity Classic is underway at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines. In Thursday’s pro-am, two Republicans from the Iowa House were in a foursome that placed second. Christopher Rants of Sioux City is the former House Speaker who served as the House Minroity Leader for the past two years. Doug Struyk of Council Bluffs is a state representative who used to be a Democrat but jumped over to the Republican camp a few years ago.
Struyk is pronounced like the word "strike" as in "strike" the golf ball with the face of the club. Struyk was first elected to the House in 2002 (as a Democrat), ran for re-election in 2004 (as a Democrat) and switched to Republican in March, 2004. Struyk is seeking re-election this fall (as a Republican).
Struyk and Rants were in a foursome with Calvin Craib and Ed Pardini, who are Mediacom executives.
I’m an avid golfer that is always looking for ways to improve, not only my game, but to share with others the knowledge and skills I’ve uncovered.
Who’s running the show in Washington?
