New wrinkle from Edwards in AARP forum

I’ve been monitoring tonight’s forum in Davenport via the TV on my desk, preparing to write a story for our air tomorrow morning.  There was one piece of new rhetoric from Edwards that was interesting:  "We have the worst economic insecurity that we’ve had since the Great Depression.  The gap between the haves and the have nots is growing all the time."  He said it during his closing statement.

  1. Cedar Rapidian says

I have to say I’m quite disappointed with the field of candidates this year. I wish there was a candidate that we could confidently support knowing they would do their best to improve America. What we need is a candidate like Sen. Chuck Grassley.

  2. Edwards is of course correct. Due to the economic bungling of the recent past administrations in Washington and in particular those of the Bush Administration, we are on the verge of an economic meltdown that could make the Great Depression look like the good old days. Since Bush has taken office oil prices have more than tripled, the dollar is about to be replaced by the Euro on world markets, the federal debt has risen to 9.1 trillion dollars, and the war profiteer cronies of Bush and Cheney are getting wealthy while our kids die. However, instead of impeaching this idiot or tearing Washington apart with their bare hands, Americans are going to the mall to shop.
