Tancredo’s “Iowa Idol” competition

Colorado Congressman/GOP presidential candidate Tom Tancredo is going to host an "Iowa Idol" competition at the Iowa Republican Party’s Straw Poll on August 11.  Tancredo apparently is putting up $2450 in prize money for the 10 finalists.  Blogger Cyclone Conservative has the goods.

Tancredo Presidential Campaign Announces Iowa’s Idol Talent Search
Finalists to appear at Ames Straw Poll

(Washington, D.C.) – The Tancredo for President Campaign announced today the beginning of a search for "Iowa’s Idol".  This exciting talent search began on Friday, June 29 and will run through July 23, 2007.  To be considered all contestants must submit their entries on or before that date.
   
Senior advisor for the Tancredo for President Campaign, Bay Buchanan, commented today about this exciting event, “We are delighted to sponsor this event in the hope that we will encourage young people to become involved in national politics at an early age, and help them understand the importance of the Iowa Straw Poll in American politics.”

All talented Iowans 17 years old or younger, are asked to send in a demo tape (DVD or VHS) of their musical ability to the campaign headquarters at 501 Church Street, Vienna, Va. 22180, attention Barbara Hayward.  The submissions will be viewed by an impartial panel of judges.  The ten finalists will appear and be judged by a panel of three celebrity judges, and the winner announced, at the Straw Poll event in Ames, Iowa on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
