Carter says Iowa should no longer go first

Former President Jimmy Carter — the man who vaulted to national prominence in 1976 with his second place finish in the Iowa Causes ("undecided" came in first, ironically) — gave a speech tonight in Iowa City and a reporter on the scene says Carter said Iowa should no longer go first in the nominating season.

  1. I think it would also be appropriate to mention that the purpose of his trip to Iowa was to talk about his book, Palestine Peace not Apartheid. He asked that every Iowan require of our Presidential candidates that they pledge to use their best efforts to bring peace to the Middle East with a secure state of Israel and a contiguous Palestinian state.
