Dozens of reporters will descend on Iowa this weekend to cover Hillary Clinton’s first campaign steps here. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was here today and a few of the national media who’re here for tomorrow trailed him in eastern Iowa today. Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is in eastern Iowa Sunday, perhaps hoping some national media will drop off Clinton and watch him as he watches the Iowa/Wisconsin basketball game in Iowa City.
Now, surprise! Iowa’s former governor will be here this weekend. Tom Vilsack’s presidential campaign sent out an email at 12:30 p.m. today — the first public notice he would be in the Hawkeye state this weekend, with a little caveat at the end I found funny:

Tomorrow (1/27/2007) is Hillary Clinton’s first foray into Iowa as a presidential candidate. But it is also the 15th ANNIVERSARY of her national media debut, on 60 minutes. 1/27/1992. Hillary said: “I’m not sitting here like some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette.”
